The best part is that not only does it taste just like BBQ pulled pork (or chicken), it feels like it too! Even the way the “meat” pulls apart LOOKS like meat—but it’s not! And that’s a good thing for your heart health: no saturated animal fats, no cholesterol, and no growth hormones!

Here’s the recipe I used in this video:

PLANT-BASED BBQ PULLED “PORK” In a large frying pan over medium heat, cook 1 chopped sweet onion until glazed. Add 1 can diced, peeled tomatoes (14.5 oz), 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar, 2 tsp paprika, 1 tsp cinnamon, and 4-8 tbsp of your favorite BBQ sauce (to taste). Add 4 cups of jackfruit. Simmer, stirring occasionally. Using two forks, pull apart any large chunks of jackfruit. (No need to test for doneness—simply eat when hot!)

This recipe makes about 12 servings when using traditional store-bought hamburger buns; fewer if using oversized buns.
